The ÔÆ¶¥¶Ä³¡app Department of Anthropology has begun the final steps in a long process to return the ancient ancestors of Native Americans, previously used for research, to the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

The university's Preventing Alzheimer's with Cognitive Training (PACT) study, funded by the National Institute on Aging, uses digital brain training exercises to see if they can reduce the risk of cognitive impairment and dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. The study is seeking more than 1,200 participants in the Sarasota area to join.
The ÔÆ¶¥¶Ä³¡app and healthy older adult volunteers from the Sarasota area will play an increasingly crucial role in the landmark Preventing Alzheimer’s with Cognitive Training (PACT) study.

A protein that could provide assistance to the progression of a protein-based therapy for patients with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) has been tested by researchers at the Morsani College of Medicine, ultimately leading to successful results, according to lead investigator Svitlana Garbuzova-Davis.

Researchers at the ÔÆ¶¥¶Ä³¡app Health Morsani College of Medicine, located at the ÔÆ¶¥¶Ä³¡app, successfully tested a protein that has the potential to aid in the development of a protein-based therapy for patients with ALS, a progressive nervous system disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
