BIOGRAPHY:
Melia Pfannenstiel, PhD is an Associate Professor at the U.S. Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS). Prior to her appointment at SAMS, she taught in the Joint All Domain Strategist program at the U.S. Air Force’s Air Command and Staff College and was a post-doctoral fellow at the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS).

Pfannenstiel’s research focuses on transnational criminal networks, foreign terrorist organizations, and the intersection of cyber warfare and conflict. She has published articles on insurgency and terrorism in Africa in Terrorism and Political Violence, Russian disinformation in humanitarian missions in Joint Force Quarterly, and NATO’s evolution in cyber policy in Military Review. She has contributed to several volumes on topics such as The Syrian Conflict, Cyber Warfare, Social Media, and Technology, and Conflict in the Modern Middle East.

She holds a PhD in Security Studies from Kansas State University and is a graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School in Norfolk, Virginia.
