BIOGRAPHY:
Ioanna Iordanou, PhD is a reader in Human Resource Management at Oxford Brookes University, specializing in preindustrial business, organizational history, and coaching. She earned a PhD in Renaissance Studies from the University of Warwick in 2008, where her research focused on the development of intelligence and espionage practices in the 16th century.

Iordanou’s interdisciplinary work blends sociology, organization studies, and intelligence studies with rich archival research. She is the author of Venice's Secret Service: Organising Intelligence in the Renaissance (Oxford University Press, 2019), which was shortlisted for the Royal Historical Society's Gladstone Prize. The book has also been translated into Italian and Turkish.

In addition to her academic work, Ioanna is an expert in coaching and mentoring, with a published work Values and Ethics in Coaching (Sage, 2016), which won the Henley Coaching Centre’s Coaching Book of the Year 2017 Award.

She is also a co-editor of Spy Chiefs (Georgetown University Press, 2018), and has contributed extensively to journals such as Business History, Enterprise and Society, Intelligence and National Security, and Journal of Intelligence History. Ioanna Iordanou is a member of the editorial boards for several journals and has held prestigious fellowships, including a Descartes Theme-Group Fellowship at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study.
