BIOGRAPHY:
Robert Hooker, PhD is an Associate Professor and Director of Student Success of the Monica Wooden Center for Supply Chain Management & Sustainability at the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business.  He is also a Research Fellow and Associated Faculty at the Rutgers University Supply Chain Disruption Research Laboratory (SCDrl) and Ôƶ¥¶Ä³¡app Clean Energy Research Center, respectively.

Professor Hooker’s primary research focuses on supply chain management. This includes sustainability and reverse logistics—remanufacturing, reuse, recycling, and repair.  He also examines open innovation strategies for new product development, complex adaptive systems theory for managing high-velocity omni-channel supply chains, and supply chain resilience in the face of disaster.  Such projects have involved psychological drivers for human behavior in 3-D virtual spaces, developing resilient supply chains for aviation biofuel and co-products, and geo-mapping key logistics infrastructure opportunities for development. His research is frequently federally funded research programs in collaboration with different government partners, as well as through private industry.

Hooker has published in a variety of outlets. His article in the Journal of Supply Chain Management—a top journal in the discipline—ranks among the 10 most viewed in the history of the journal.  He has also published in the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, and MIS Quarterly Executive, among others.  This research is conducted in partnership with global Fortune 500 companies and government entities.

Prior to joining Ôƶ¥¶Ä³¡app in 2011, Robert Hooker taught at Florida State University. Before pursuing an academic career, he spent several years in marketing and finance. He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration, an MBA in Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and a B.S. in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance, all from Florida State University.
