BIOGRAPHY:
Jacob Holzer, MD, is a physician in clinical and forensic psychiatry on staff with
the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization in Boston and faculty at Harvard
Medical School, and do forensic psychiatry consultation with attorneys and courts
in Massachusetts and other states. Before medical school, I served in the U.S. Air
Force in intelligence operations. I completed medical school at Tufts, psychiatry
residency at Yale, and fellowships in neuroscience at Yale and neuropsychiatry/behavioral
neurology at Harvard/Beth Israel Hospital Boston. Since then, I have provided clinical
care in medical psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, psychopharmacology, and geriatric psychiatry,
in addition to consultation in forensic psychiatry and legal medicine, am ABPN Board
Certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry, and received Massachusetts Department
of Mental Health forensic division certification. My academic focus has been on the
relationship of clinical and forensic mental health and various national security
topics. I was the lead co-editor on a multi-authored book titled Lone-Actor Terrorism:
An Integrated Framework, published in 2022 by Oxford University Press. I am currently
the lead co-editor in a new book project titled: Mental Health Aspects of High-Threat
Groups: Radicalization, Terrorism, and Insider Threat, also to be published by Oxford
Press. Topics in research, writing and teaching have included lone-actor terrorism,
extremism/radicalization, forensic aspects of combat-related PTSD and TBI, mental
health and behavioral patterns in espionage and treason, and traits/biases in intelligence
analysis.
