BIOGRAPHY:
Major General (Ret) Brad Gericke, PhD, is an accomplished senior leader who enjoys
a reputation for original thinking and strategic acumen coupled with an affirmative
leadership approach. He holds a doctorate from Vanderbilt University and is a graduate
of the National War College. As a leading change agent serving in both Joint and Army
commands, Gericke insistently challenged the status quo and led the implementation
of more than fifteen novel and capstone Joint and Army formal strategies, papers,
and plans, including the Chairmans National Military Strategy, the Army Campaign
Plan, and the Armys Arctic Strategy. His reputation as an action-oriented thought
leader meant that his inclusion in major initiatives was regularly sought by the executive
leadership of the DoD.
While serving as the Armys longest-tenured Senior Strategist and Chief of Plans, Gericke was charged by Army leaders to own the future. He employed enterprise-wide authorities to build new structure models validated through scenario-driven experiments to maximize Army capabilities and operations. He refashioned educational and training methods to improve the Armys counter-WMD readiness; drafted orders for Army-wide implementation, and informed senior leaders regarding emerging trends affecting land power and national defense.
As a Joint leader, he led the Pentagons primary war-planning and global force posture forums. He was the creator of DoDs first and unique worldwide campaign and operational plans that integrated the DoDs crisis responses with cross-domain and cross-boundary challenges posed by disruptive technologies, rising state actors, and the rapid global transfer of information.
In addition to his strategy and leadership experience, Gericke served as a special assistant to multiple senior executives. An accomplished writer, he has published numerous professional and historical essays, three college instructor resource manuals, two urban warfare anthologies, and a military biography.
Gericke continues to work as a Senior Mentor to the Army and as a Distinguished Fellow at several National Security institutes and forums from his home in Tennessee.
