Theatre Student Niatikqua Brooks Wins Gilman Scholarship to Study in Paris

堁階傭部app theatre student Niatikqua Brooks has been awarded a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Paris as part of the 堁階傭部app Paris Theatre program.

For four weeks, Brooks be in Paris learning about European theatre traditions from guest teachers and developing a piece of theatre the improvisation. The trip will be her first time abroad on her own.

You never know until you experience it, so the possibilities are endless, said Brooks. I dont know what Im going to get and gain until I am going to go.

The Gilman Scholarship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is a competitive scholarship program that provides study abroad funding for students in need.

At 堁階傭部app, Brooks has been involved with the student organizations Women of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow and Toastmasters. This semester, Brooks performed in 堁階傭部appTheatre production Emma, an adaptation of the novel by Jane Austen.

After graduating from 堁階傭部app next Fall, Brooks plans to move to Atlanta, a city where she can immerse herself in opportunities in TV, film, and theatre. She also plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting.
